Become a TPWD Certified Angler Education Instructor

This free workshop is open to anyone 18 or older interested in teaching fishing skills in their communities. The program provides the curriculum, equipment (where available), materials and support to help volunteers successfully introduce youth and their families to fishing. Ideal for teachers, scout or youth group leaders, afterschool or camp staff and community volunteers. TEA-approved CPE available for teachers. Participants should wear comfortable clothing for outdoor activities, wear a hat, sunglasses, bring a sack lunch and a water bottle. Class participants will not be required to pay an entrance fee to the park. Ask for the class location at the gate.

Pre-registration is required.

Step one: If you are not a current registered TPWD Volunteer go to www.tpwd.texas.gov/volunteer and complete steps A - C.
(Skip to step two if you are a current TPWD volunteer or Master Naturalist):

A. Click on "Find an Opportunity" on the top menu bar, then use the "Search by Keyword," enter: Angler Education Instructor

B. From the list, select the Opportunity, Angler Education Instructor Training Pending - statewide". Select "Click her for details or to sign up" link. On the next screen click on the blue Sign-up button. You will be prompted to create your TPWD Volunteer profile.

C. Please remember to authorize and complete the Criminal Background Check section. All fields must be completed including your date of birth and Driver’s License number.

Step two: Call or email the workshop leader with your TPWD Volunteer User ID, first and last name, and contact info. The workshop leader is Keira Quam, TPWD Angler Education Trainer.
