Come out to the John Bunker Sands Wetland Center for a day of family fishing fun.

Bring the whole family for a morning of learning the basics of fishing -- knot tying, safety, casting, fish identification and much more. Participants will move through stations learning the skills needed to become a competent angler. Fishing from the wetland shoreline will be part of the fun. After completing all the stations, you will receive a Basic Angler Certificate and a fish recognition pin! We want to thank Texas Parks and Wildlife for making this event possible. Please Note: This is a special event. Fishing is not allowed at the Wetland Center by the general public.

The entry fee for the facility is $5 for all attendees over 13 years of age.

No fishing license required for this event, a fishing license waiver will be provided by Texas Parks and Wildlife.

Please plan to dress for the weather and for a day spent outdoors, bring sunscreen and bug repellent.

While the event will be held outdoors, masks are required when indoors at the facility. Participants will be divided into groups no larger than 10 people to promote social distancing. Handwashing stations and sanitizer will be provided, and all equipment will be sanitized in between uses.
