Bring the family out to Fort Boggy State Park for a day of fishing fun!

The Friends of Fort Boggy invite you and your family out for a day of fishing fun! This event is for children 5-12 years old and their families to learn about fishing. Registered kids will be given their own rod & reel, and will learn to cast with the help of TPWD Certified Volunteer Angler Education Instructors. They can then participate in the fishing tournament alongside others in their age group. Trophies will be awarded at the end of each tournament by age group (5/6, 7/8, 9/10 and 11/12).

Registration required, space is limited to 50 children per session.

Morning and afternoon sessions are available:

  • Morning – 9:00 a.m. – noon
  • Afternoon – 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Register with park office: (903) 344-1116. (Open daily 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
Registration closes when the per-session cap of 50 registrants is reached or on Feb. 18.

All children must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older. No more than two children per adult. A $3 park entrance fee applies to all attendees 13 years and older.

Registered children will receive free rod & reel with tackle to keep for future fishing fun! All other family members should plan to bring their own fishing gear. Free bait provided for tournaments. NO artificial bait or lures can be used during the tournaments.

Face masks and social distancing are encouraged. Hand sanitizer will be available at all check points.
This event is held entirely outdoors.
