Re-connect with the natural world by learning more about the plants and animals around you!

Start the New Year off right! -- We'll be having "New Year's Resolution-themed" events all this month! From learning new skills to re-kindling old passions, from getting active to learning to slow down and disconnect to reconnect... If you want to get outside, we've got something for you!

What do the animals in the park eat? What did people eat here thousands of years ago? What else did they use the plants for? Join us on this short hike to find out!

Meet at the Gazebo at the beginning of the Summit Trail.

Time: Approximately 1.5 hours.
Distance: 1.0 miles round trip.
Difficulty: easy


  • Walking or hiking shoes
  • Plenty of water
  • Sunscreen
  • Dress for the weather

Entrance fee for the park is $7/person (children 12 and under are free); no additional fee to attend this program. Entry is free with a Texas State Parks Pass.
"Save the Day" reservations may be required on weekends and holidays.

"Save the Day" -- Guarantee your space in the park and speed up the check in process by purchasing your park entry permit in advance. Day pass reservations can be made online up to 30 days in advance.
