11:00a to 1:00p
Sat, October 14, 2023
Addison Preston
(830) 685-3636, x800

Safely view the annular solar eclipse with park rangers!

We'll be set up from 11 AM - 1 PM in the day-use area. Stop by and see us!

Join us to safely view the annular solar eclipse with a solar-filtered telescope. Solar glasses are optionally available to purchase at the Headquarters Gift Shop (reuse them for the April 2024 eclipse!).

NEVER look directly at the sun or a solar eclipse without protective eyewear or proper equipment.

The solar eclipse will be at its peak at approximately 11:52 AM over our park.

Bring: Solar glasses (if you have them), dress for the weather

Meet: Day-use area (near Kona Ice)

Note: Scope viewing time will be limited to allow as many people as possible to witness this event. You will be allowed to get in line as many times as you would like to look through the telescope again.

Day pass or overnight camping reservations are required to come into the park on this day.

Due to the eclipse, we recommend making your reservation as early as possible (30 days in advance for day passes, five months in advance for overnight camping). Reservations can be made online at TexasStateParks.ReserveAmerica.com. Entry fees are $8 per adult ages 13+, children 12 and younger are free.

This event is weather dependent and subject to cancellation. Updates will be posted on this page and on our Facebook and Instagram feeds.
