This event has been CANCELLED due to weather.

We'll start with some basic stargazing. From finding constellations to specific stars. From myths and legends about these celestial beings to scientific facts and figures. We’ll spend the evening looking and learning. And after that we'll enjoy the Perseids meteor shower.

As an International Dark Sky Park, Enchanted Rock boasts some of the darkest skies in this part of Texas, which means the stars at night ARE big and bright deep in the heart of Texas. We will be bare eye stargazing.

Location: Meet at the Gazebo and we'll hike up the rock. This is moderate to difficult hike.

  • Stargazing/picnic blanket
  • Dress for the weather
  • Flashlight (preferably with a red lens; mainly for walk back to vehicle/campsite)

Entrance fee for the park is $7/person (children 12 and under are free); no additional fee to attend this program. Entry is free with a Texas State Parks Pass. No need to register, just show up.

Note: This event is weather permitting; check our Facebook page for the most up to date information.

*If you are arriving before or after office hours, you will need to use the Self-pay station. The Self-pay station is located at the front door of the office. Self-pay is cash, check or Texas State Parks Pass only.

**The park closes to all visitors except campers at 10PM. If you are attending this event, you will be able to remain in the park after 10PM, until the conclusion of the event. You will not be allowed to enter the park after 10PM.
