Cosmic Creepy Crawlies Night Hike

Join us for a night hike on our Loop Trail! This easy hike will take brave visitors spider snuffing and scorpion spotting all the way out to the Scenic Overlook, where we will discuss some of the misconceptions about these arachnids and their presence in our constellations.

Starting at sunset, visitors will hike a 1.5-mile section of our Loop Trail out to the scenic overlook while a ranger guides them through the finer aspects of spotting arachnids at night. We'll talk about some common fears and misconceptions about arachnids, ways to overcome them, and arachnid representation in mythology and the constellations. 

Meet: At the Loop Trail Trailhead adjacent to our main campground parking lot.

Bring: Bug spray, water, binoculars, and flashlights.

Cost: Free with park admission. Park admission is free with a Texas State Parks Pass. Day passes can be purchased ahead of time on our website.

Registration: Email Hannah Pickens ahead of time to reserve your spot. Hikes will be capped at 20 guests.
