Have an extra hour to spend today? Find a geocache! Join us for a high-tech, modern day treasure hunt.

This introduction to geocaching will be followed by a short treasure hunt after.

What is a geocache? A geocache is a combination of the words: geo meaning "earth" and cache meaning "items in a hidden place." These caches tend to contain things like knick-knacks for trade and a visitor log... and they always take you somewhere interesting!
Geocaching is an activity you can do almost anywhere in the world with the help of a GPS unit or smartphone.

Loaner GPS units will be provided for this activity.

Meet in the Day-use Picnic Area.

Bring

  • Walking shoes
  • Drinking water
  • Small trinkets for trade in geocaches (optional)
  • A sense of adventure!

Entrance fee for the park is $7/person (children 12 and under are free); no additional fee to attend this program. Entry is free with a Texas State Parks Pass.
