Everyone is welcome on this beginner bird walk with a ranger. Binoculars available first come, first served!

Birding is an activity that can be enjoyed every day, and you're always likely to find a few feathered friends on the trail!

Learn the basics of using binoculars to bird and how to identify birds, then practice using your newfound skills as we walk around the Day-Use Area. Time permitting, we will also explore around the Day-Use Area along the creek beds! Our hike will be less than one mile total.

Meet: In the Day-Use Area (near Kona Ice)

Bring: Weather appropriate clothing, binoculars (we will provide binoculars first come, first served to those who need them), water, smart phone with Merlin Bird ID app , Seek app, and/or eBird app (optional)

This program is for beginners, but all skill levels are welcome!

Note: Please do not bring pets for this program (service animals allowed). Pets disrupt bird behaviors and make them more challenging to find.

This event is free with the purchase of a day pass or overnight camping permit. These can be reserved at TexasStateParks.ReserveAmerica.com. Adults 13+ are $8/person; children 12 and younger are free.

For severe weather, this event will be cancelled. This program may be cancelled if no guests show up within 10 minutes of program start time.
