First Day Hike - Fairfield Lake

Celebrate the new year and a fresh start with a hike on our two-mile Nature Trail loop! The Nature Trail is an easy to moderate 2-mile loop so you will end where you begin. This hike features tall post oaks, overlooks of Fairfield Lake, and interpretive signage about local plants and wildlife. Bring your binoculars and look for Bald Eagles! Hike starts promptly at 10 am and will last a little over an hour.

Bring: Water, snacks.

Wear: Layers, hiking boots/shoes, and a hat. Bundle up!

Optional: Binoculars, hiking stick, camera, and a trails map.

Fee: Free with park entry: $5 for adults, free for children 12-and-under.

Meet: At the parking area in front of the Nature Trail entrance. After paying entry fees at the park headquarters continue straight down the road for over 3 miles. You will see the trail parking lot on the right after passing the Post Oak campgrounds. If the lot is full, please continue down the road a few feet to overflow parking on the right. This hike is NOT stroller friendly. 

Friendly dogs welcome on a leash no longer than 6ft. Keep in mind, there may be a large crowd and other animals. Please pick up after your pets!
