Fishing With a Ranger

Join a park ranger for a few fishing basics. Bring your own bait!
Want to try fishing, but are not sure where to start? Come to Fishing With a Ranger! Learn a few fishing basics: like baiting a hook, casting a line, and if you are lucky reeling in a fish! Bring your own bait and we will help you hook it! (Shrimp - live, fresh dead, or frozen (thawed) - is a popular choice and can be found at most local bait stands.) The park will provide a limited number of fishing poles for use during the program, poles can also be checked out from Park Headquarters, first-come first-served.
When: 11:00 a.m.
Where: Fishing Pier
What are we doing: Learning fishing basics.
Things to bring: Bait, water, sunscreen, fishing pole, and dress in weather appropriate clothing. The park will provide 10 fishing poles to the first 10 participants. You may want to bring your own pole, especially if you are bringing a large group!
Events may be canceled pending weather, or if no participants are present.
There is no fee for attending this program although park entrance is required. Entrance fees are $5 per person over the age of 13, children 12 and under are free, or free with a current Texas State Park Pass.
