🎉 Join us for an exciting night of stargazing, astrophotography and astronomy-based oral history at the Sauceda Airstrip!
You will view the night sky with your eyes, through the lens of telescopes with amateur astronomers, and learn the basics of night sky photography, all accompanied by a narrative transporting you through space and time! Limited camping on the airstrip is available by reservation only!
Evening Events:
- 6 pm - Welcome Remarks
- 6:15 pm - Astronomy Through the Ages Ranger Talk
- 7 pm - Star Party Program!
- 9 pm - Astrophotography Tips and Tricks
- 9 - 10:30 pm - Open Stargazing with Amateur Astronomers
- 10:30 pm - Event Ends
Meet at the Big Bend Ranch Airstrip; off of Main Park Road about 1.5 miles East of the Sauceda Ranger Station
Bring your own blankets/chairs to watch the skies!
Bring flashlights, but please do not use them after stargazing has begun. Red lights are permitted for limited use. The longer you let your eyes adjust the more stars you will see!
Airstrip Camping Information: Each camping reservation at the airstrip is limited to six visitors per group.
