Observe stars, planets and constellation through the park telescopes! Learn how to use Apps to view the night sky.
Join us as we take a look at the stars! Visitors will have a chance to view 2-3 celestial objects and learn basic astronomy by learning how to use free apps to view the darkest skies in Texas!
All ages are welcomed!
Before you attend: Download one of these apps- Stellarium Mobile, Star Gazer or Sky Map
Where: West Contrabando Trailhead
What to bring: Your own chair, water, a red-light flashlight (or covered with red cellophane). Binoculars and dress for the weather!
Cost: Program is free with park entrance fee— $5 per person ages 13 and up; kids 12 and under are free! Or use your TSPP to get your fee waived. Please stop by one of our Park Visitor Centers to obtain entrance permit. Or use a self-pay envelope located at Barton Warnock Visitor Center, Fort Leaton State Historic Site, Closed Canyon, Hoodoos trailhead and Big Bend Ranch welcome sign.
