Kids ages 8-12 are invited to join a ranger for a day of exploring the cultural history of the Big Bend!

This 1-day camp is designed to get kids in touch with their inner history detective!  Day campers will learn about Leave No Trace ethics, pick up some outdoor skills that help desert-dwellers survive, and explore an archeological site alongside a ranger. Children are carefully supervised by park staff and trained volunteers throughout the day-long event that will take them into the interior of Big Bend Ranch State Park. Registration is required and spaces fill up quickly, so register early. Contact Laura Jennings at (432) 229-3613, x302 for a registration form and further details.

Kids and parents should bring: Water, a sack-lunch, sunscreen, hiking boots/shoes, and comfortable clothes.

Fee: Free with park entry: $5 for adults, free for children 12-and-under.

Meet: At Fort Leaton State Historic Site Gift Shop.

Parents: Are welcome to attend all activities.
