Come celebrate Christmas in the borderlands with a traditional Mexican Posada at Fort Leaton State Historic Site.

What is a Posada: "Posada" means "inn" or "shelter" in Spanish. This traditional Mexican Christmas celebration tells the story of Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem through skits, songs, and celebratory breaking of piñatas!

What to expect:  600 candle luminarias light the way for you to walk and sing with Mary and Joseph as they search for shelter. A Christmas concert with mariachis and folkloric dancers waits inside, where fireplaces glow and tables are filled with traditional Mexican treats.  The ceremony concludes with a customary piñata and a visit from Santa Claus.

Cost: Park entrance fees are waived for this event.
