Will You Be My Valentine?

Show your love for your state park by helping us with a litter pickup!

Show your love for your state park by helping us with a litter pickup!

As the largest urban wilderness in the United States, Franklin Mountains State Park is a hidden gem, offering El Pasoans a place to relax, recreate, recharge, reconnect with nature, get away from it all, or work out. Unfortunately, we can sometimes leave the mark of heavy use on this amazing natural space.

This Valentine's day, make the Franklins your Valentine and show it some love. Grab friends, family members, or other willing participants and help us clean up our state park so we can continue to responsibly use and enjoy it for years to come.

Sign in at the table that will be set up at the end of the Tom Mays Access Road where you will be given instructions, trash bags, and a safety briefing. Pause at the selfie station to get some sweet pics to share with your friends. Then head out to your chosen area and clean up your favorite state park!

Bring: water, snacks, hiking boots/shoes, and comfortable clothes.

Optional: gloves, hiking stick, binoculars, camera, and a map.

Meeting location: the end loop in the Tom Mays Unit. When you enter Tom Mays, stop by the booth and let the ranger on duty know you are part of the event. Continue down the road until it ends in a loop and find a parking spot.

Directions:

  • From Westside on I-10, take exit 6 & travel east towards mountains for 3.8 miles. Park entrance will be on the left.
  • From Eastside on Hwy 54, take exit 29 towards Transmountain Rd, travel west 7-7.5 miles through the mountains. Park entrance will be on the right.
