Twilight Hike

6:30p to 10:00p
Fri, August 16, 2019
(915) 566-6441

Join the Franklin Mountains Rangers for an evening hike to explore the night life at Franklin Mountains State Park.

We will meet at the W. Cottonwood springs trailhead in the Tom Mays Unit of the park to hike up to Mundy's Gap. This is a moderately difficult trail of 3.5 miles roundtrip with 1000 feet of elevation gain. It begins with a gradual incline over scree, or rubble, proving to be challenging for some; then transitions to a steady climb over loose rubble/rocks. Once you make it to the gap you are rewarded with sweeping views of the East side.

Reservations are required; to make you reservation, call (915) 566-6441 Monday through Friday. 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.

Bring: water, snacks, hiking boots/shoes, comfortable clothes, and a flashlight with a red, green, black, or UV light setting.

Optional: binoculars, hiking stick, camera, and a map.

Fee: $8 for adults 13 years old and up; $3 for Texas State Park Pass holders, and $1 for children between the ages of 5-12 years old.
