Basic Fishing

Need the basics for fishing? We've got them!

Fishing is easy. Catching is the hard part. Join Park Host Chuck for all the basic skills needed to get to the catching part of fishing. Limited amount of loaner gear is available for use. Bring your own gear if you have it. 

This program has very little shade, so hats and sunglasses are highly recommended. Plan ahead - you could get wet. 

• Bring: Sunscreen, bug spray, water bottle, weather appropriate clothing, close-toed shoes and bait (squid, mullet, shrimp). Bait can be purchased from Texas Camp Company. 
• Meet: Nature Center, drive to fishing location 
• Cost: Entry fee is $5 for adults and FREE for children 12 & under. Park entry is free with a State Parks Pass.
