Nature's Bounty: A grocery store at your fingertips.

Explore the wonders of foraging, as we present "NATURE"- a lovely place where all your food comes from, not wrapped in plastic or homogenized, but blooming flowers, bountiful berries, and edible seeds and leaves.


Taste the subtle nature at Galveston Island State Park. Ranger Lisa will lead a short presentation and prairie hike about edible plants. Relive the journey of natives and early settlers, foraging and celebrating the season. Modern applications for naturalists knowledge.

 What to expect:

  • Valuable information on foraging in season as well as urban and modern foraging techniques

  • Nature Center presentation by Ranger Lisa

  • Short prairie and pond hike (< .2 miles)

 What to bring:

  • Be sure to get a park pass (either from park office, or self-pay station)

  • Questions about local flora

  • Clothing suitable for being outdoors

  • Water
