Soundscape Memorial: Honoring the Eskimo Curlew🌅

Join us at sunset for a short, intentional musical offering honoring the memory of the Eskimo Curlew, a bird once native to this region and now considered extinct. A Wild Notes collaboration with Galveston Island State Park
This Soundscape Memorial takes place at the Eskimo Curlew statue, part of artist Todd McGrain’s Lost Bird Project, and invites visitors to pause, listen, and reflect on our relationship with the natural world. Presented in partnership with Wild Notes, a nonprofit dedicated to creating ecological listening experiences in parks and natural spaces.
- Bring:Â BUG SPRAY, water, weather appropriate clothing
- Meet:Â Observation Tower Parking Lot @ 7:30 pm for a short guided hike to the Eskimo Curlew statue or meet us at the statue at 8:00pm.
- Cost: Entry fee is $5 for adults and FREE for children 12 & under. Park entry free with a State Parks Pass.
- Easy, relaxing walk (0.75 miles) with no shade over concrete, crushed granite, and boardwalks
