September is National Suicide Prevention Month, and Garner State Park will be hosting a ruck hike to shed light on this issue, which affects many veterans and their loved ones. The Veteran Suicide Awareness Ruck Hike covers 4 miles across the park to the top of Old Baldy.
All are welcome to participate in our hike.
The hike is 4 miles long, climbs 400-foot elevation.
We ask participants to bring a pack or bag to carry at least 18 pounds to represent veterans lost to suicide every day.
Bring good hiking shoes, at least 32 ounces of water. Bug spray and sunblock are highly recommended.
