Visitors Center History Tour

Explore the unique history of the CCC-built "Keeper's Cottage" at the El Camino Real Visitors Center and learn the fascinating story behind this beautiful building.

See why the First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt, paid a visit to and sang the praises of this "architectural gem." The Keeper's Cottage, now called El Camino Real de los Tejas Visitors Center, served both as a functioning home and as a practice template for reconstructing the Spanish Colonial detail and design of Mission Espiritu Santo. Get a better understanding of the challenges faced and overcome by CCC Company 3822-V and see where the mission reconstruction began at this remarkable building!

Tour takes place at the El Camino Real de los Tejas Visitors Center. (From the park, turn left on US-183; Visitors Center is about 0.3 miles down on the right, just past the ballpark.)
