8:30a to 11:00a

Come along with us to view birds at the Big Tree Natural Area!

What will you see beyond the Big Tree? Join us for a tram ride through the Big Tree Natural Area, an area of the park that is otherwise closed to the public. We'll observe birds in a variety of habitats including live oak forests, coastal prairies, marshes, and bay shorelines. We may even be lucky enough to see an endangered Whooping Crane!

Registration: Space is limited on the tram, so registration is required. We recommend you purchase your day pass online beforehand, print out the permit, and have it ready to show when you arrive.

When: Fridays from 8:30-11:00 A.M.

Where: You will meet at the Big Tree Parking lot no later than 8:30am. If you are not reserving your day pass ahead of time, be sure to give yourself enough time to go to headquarters first to fill out your self-pay pass, as headquarters doesn't open until 8:30am.  A park permit is REQUIRED to attend the tour.

*There are no facilities available at the Big Tree Natural Area.

Bring: Binoculars, water, comfortable walking shoes, bug repellant, camera, and weather-appropriate clothing. The park offers a limited number of binoculars available for loan, but it is best to bring your own.

FYI:

  • Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program.
