Birding Outing

Join us as we celebrate our avian friends!

Members of the Government Canyon Activities Committee welcome anyone interested in our feathered friends for a birding outing at the Natural Area on Saturday October 22nd from 8:00am to 11:00am.  Learn about the fun and excitement of birding, including tips on using binoculars, cameras, field guides and sound recordings. Bring your own equipment or let us know if we can loan you a pair of binoculars when you make your reservation. Volunteers will meet you at the rainwater harvesting tower at the Visitor Center. Dress for the weather and be prepared for sunny conditions. Bring at least one liter of water and a snack if you like. This group will be limited to 8 guests ages 12 and up; participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Reservations required! Reserve your spot at

Registration opens on Saturday two weeks prior to the event and closes at noon the Thursday before the event.

Though the program is free, entrance fees to the Natural Area do apply. Plan to arrive early as mornings can be very busy. The Natural Area’s front gates open at 7AM and the program begins promptly at 8AM. Meet at the rainwater harvesting tower at the Visitor Center.
