First Day Hike - What a View!!

...and we're not "bluffing!" (Well, technically there IS a bluff involved...)

Texas state parks centennial logoStart the new year with an adventure on the Bluff Spurs Trail. 1PM - 3PM This hike is approximately 4 miles in length with a fair amount of elevation gain over rocky, rugged terrain. The hike leads to an amazing overlook where you can get a real sense of the canyon that is our namesake. Open to ages 13 and older; minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. No pets please.

Meet at the rainwater harvesting tower at the Visitor Center. Dress for hiking outdoors; sunscreen and hat recommended. Wear sturdy footwear appropriate for rough trails; bring one (1) liter of water PER PERSON and a snack if you like.

Reservations required! Reserve your spot at https://friendsofgovernmentcanyon.org/events?view=calendar&month=01-2023

Though the program is free, entrance fees to the Natural Area do apply. Plan to arrive early as mornings can be very busy. The Natural Area’s front gates open at 7AM; plan to be at the Visitor Center and ready to go no later than 12:30PM; the hike starts promptly at 1:00PM.
