First Day Walkies

It's a dog-gone New Year's Day hike!

Ease into the new year with your favorite canine friend on a guided dog-walk along the Savannah Loop Trail. 10AM - Noon. This hike is approximately 2.25 miles in length with a small amount of elevation change and relatively gentle terrain. Hike leaders will share the history of the Natural Area and point out the important restoration work being done along this trail. 

Open to all ages; no strollers please. Minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.

Dress for hiking outdoors; sunscreen and hat recommended. Wear sturdy footwear appropriate for rough trails; bring one (1) liter of water PER PERSON and a snack if you like.

Pets must be leashed at all times.

Registration opens on Saturday two weeks prior to the event and closes at noon the Thursday before the event. Group size for this hike is limited to the first 12 individuals who register.

Though the program is free, entrance fees to the Natural Area do apply. Plan to arrive early as mornings can be very busy. The Natural Area’s front gates open at 7AM; plan to be at the Frontcountry Trailhead in Parking Lot C and ready to go no later than 9:45AM; the hike starts promptly at 10AM

REMINDER: Meet in Parking Lot C at the back of the parking lot where the Frontcountry Trailhead Kiosk is located.

To ensure entrance and save time at the Fee Booth, please reserve and PRINT OUT your Day Pass.

SPECIAL NOTES: Reserving a Day Pass is not the same as making a program reservation!
