Hike to the Dinosaur Tracks & More!

Join us on a 7 mile trek up the Joe Johnston Route to where dinosaur footprints from the Cretaceous Period, 110 million years ago, have been re-exposed from when this area of Texas was the shoreline of the Gulf of Mexico. We’ll also investigate the Zizelmann House, a German dwelling from the 1880s, then ascend the Overlook Trail where, from the Canyon Overlook, we will enjoy an amazing vista and be able to gaze down upon the same creekbed containing the dinosaur prints (and ours). Along the way we’ll discuss the local history, flora and fauna of this wonderful State Natural Area.

9:15AM – 1:30PM. Open to hikers 14 years of age or older, minors must be accompanied by parent/ legal guardian; no pets please. Dress for the weather; sunscreen and hat recommended. Wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes appropriate for rugged, rocky trails (no sandals or flip-flops please). Bring sun protection, at least 2 liters of water per person and a snack if you think you’ll get hungry.

This very special hike is limited to just 12 participants, so reservations are required! Reserve your spot at
