Is It Nighttime Already?

During the upcoming total solar eclipse, darkness in the middle of the day will create an unusual situation for wildlife. What will our native animals do? Come find out!

Did you know that Government Canyon State Natural Area is in the perfect viewing path for the April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse? During the middle of the day, the Canyon will be in total darkness. How will our native animals react? Come find out!

Stop by any time from 9 am-12 pm to examine our wildlife skins and skulls exhibit and learn about animal behavior during an eclipse.

No reservations required. All Natural Area entry fees apply. Meet in the Exhibition Gallery next to the Visitor Center. To save time at the Fee Booth on crowded days and ensure entrance, please pre-purchase and PRINT OUT a Day Pass.

This program is subject to cancellation. Should there be inclement weather, please check Natural Area conditions by calling GCSNA's main office at 210-688-9055 or go to GCSNA's website or Facebook page.
