Atlatl: Ancient Spear Throwing

Come learn how to throw an ancient spear!

The atlatl, or spear-thrower, is an ancient hunting weapon that pre-dates the bow and arrow. Come learn about the atlatl and try it out for yourself!

Meet: Trailhead near the Prairie Trail (the folks at headquarters can direct you); there will be designated parking but please keep in mind that it is limited; you may need to park near headquarters and walk to the trailhead
Age: Atlatl is best for ages 8 and up (the dart is about five feet in length and very young explorers are not large enough for atlatl yet)
Bring: Water, sun protection; dress for the weather and wear close-toed shoes
Cost: Free with park admission; Adults: $7, Children 12 & under: Free
