How many birds can you spot at the Bird Blind?

How many birds can YOU spot from within a 50-foot circle? Join us and find out!

We will be hanging out at the Bird Blind all morning, and keeping a running tally of all the different types of birds we see (or hear)!

Volunteers and staff will be on hand, ready to share their love of birding, and we’ll have extra sets of sanitized binoculars for you to look through as well.

All ages and skill levels welcome.

What: A "Big Sit!" Often called a tailgate party for birders, a Big Sit! is a stationary birdwatching activity where birders see how many different kinds of birds they can spot from within a 50-foot circle.  Join our team, the Woodland Blind Warblers, and count birds along with us!

Who: You and your family! All ages and skill levels are welcome.

Where: We'll be hosting our Big Sit at the park's Woodland Bird Blind (northwest corner of the big Day Use parking lot, by the river).

When: The Big Sit will go from 8:00 am to  1:00 pm. Drop in for a few minutes, or stay longer!

Why: Because birdwatching is a great outdoor activity that everyone can enjoy!

What to bring: Face coverings are strongly encouraged. Bring your own binoculars, if you have them! We will also have sanitized binoculars available for you to use.

Cost and reservations: This program is free with park entrance - $7 per person for ages 13 and up, kids 12 and under are free! No registration necessary to attend the program -- just drop in!

**Important! The park is currently selling out of weekend Day Pass reservations about a week or more in advance, so please reserve your park Day Pass reservation online ahead of time to guarantee park entrance (even if you have an Annual Parks Pass). You can do this up to 30 days in advance with your credit card, or for free with your Annual Texas State Park Pass. If you don't have a reservation and the park is sold out, you will not be able to enter the park. Check availability and reserve a Day Pass online here: https://texasstateparks.reserveamerica.com/
