As a new year rolls in, it is time for the Annual First Day Hikes! This year Hueco Tanks State Park & Historic Site will be offering three hikes on January 1st with varying difficulties for all ages.

On January 1st, 2017 Hueco Tanks State Park and Historic Site will be offering four tours for the Annual First Day Hikes.  These tours will be varied in difficulty and exertion levels, from an easy family hike for all ages to a more strenuous hike designed for ages 14+.  All tours, except for the family, will be limited to a maximum capacity of 10 hikers; the family hike will have a maximum capacity of 25 participants.  To reserve a spot on the hikes, please call (915) 849 - 6684.

Things to bring: Good hiking shoes/boots, snacks, water, weather appropriate clothing.

The offered tours:

Family Tour: Maximum Capacity of 25 | A nice, easy hike along the west side of North Mountain. Paved trails and roads, perfect for wheelchairs and strollers.  | Total length: approx. 1.5 miles | Total time: About 2-3 hours.

Medium Hike: Maximum Capacity of 10 | A relatively easy hike up the chain trail of North Mountain and around the plateau. | Total length: approx. 2.5 miles | Total time: About 4 hours.

Strenuous Hike: Maximum Capacity of 10 | A strenuous hike going up and over East Mountain and parts of the Spur and West. | Total length: approx 4-5 miles | Total time: 4-6 hours.
