Come join us for an evening of Native American storytelling with Alex Mares, who is of Diné and Mexican American descent.

Plan to arrive no later than 4:30pm, as this even starts promptly at 5pm. This event will be free, but reservations are required. Please call park headquarters at (915)857-1135 to reserve your spots.

We encourage you to bring folding chairs, blankets, and to dress warmly for a cool evening.

Alex Mares was raised and has worked throughout the Southwest and has been a Park Ranger/Interpreter for 32yrs in both Texas and New Mexico. He was the tribal liaison for NM Wilderness Alliance in the successful effort to create the Organ Mountains Desert Peaks National Monument. He has served on the Board of the Chihuahuan Desert Education Coalition, El Paso Museum of Archaeology Accession Committee, and was recently selected to represent NM State Parks on the Earth to Sky - NASA/NPS Goddard Space Program Climate Change education team. 

Alex Mares is the former lead ranger of the Sacred Site of Hueco Tanks and is a certified volunteer guide at the park. He currently works at Mesilla Valley Bosque State Park in New Mexico.
