Pollinator Appreciation Day

Join us for a fun day to learn about our amazing pollinators!

In honor of the Annual Texas Pollinator BioBlitz (https://tpwd.texas.gov/education/bioblitz), join us here at Inks Lake State Park to learn about some of our native pollinators and just how important they are to us AND the Ecosystem as a whole.

There are 3 big events:

1. All day Bioblitz! Use your phone and a free app called iNaturalist to log any flowers, plants, trees, or critters that you see this Saturday. https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/inks-lake-state-park-pollinator-appreciation-day-bioblitz-2023

2. 10am-1pm Stations at Central Park (by Restroom 4)

Walk around various tables and stations to learn about other pollinators including bees, hummingbirds, bats, and others! There will be examples of beneficial native plants from Balcones Canyonlands, and multiple TPWD Biologists talking about various subjects. Get ready to learn a lot, have fun, and walk away with a better appreciation for our under-appreciated friends!

3. 6pm Blacklight Moth Survey with a Biologist, North Fishing Pier

Join Texas Nature Tracker Biologist Wendy Anderson as she leads a COOL program to see how many moths we can count!

Cost: Free with park admission, and park admission is free with a Texas State Parks Pass. On busy weekends, reserve your day use pass early online! Please note: You do NOT need to register or make a reservation for this event, just be sure you have a day pass purchased for everyone attending.

Don't forget to follow us on Facebook for all the latest information about park events!

All events subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.
