Let's hike South Onion Creek Trail

Let's get outside and explore south Onion Creek Trail and learn about the park. Not only is winter a unique time to view the park, but our park conducted a successful prescribed burn in this area. We will talk about the benefits of prescribed fire as a resource management tool.

Use of the iNaturalist app is optional. All age groups welcome. Total distance is about 1.5 miles. The trail does not have hills but may be uneven in places.

iNaturalist is a citizen science app that allows you to upload observations (usually photos) from your smartphone or camera. Your photos contribute to a worldwide database of biodiversity. https://www.inaturalist.org/

What to bring: Please dress for winter weather. This section of the trail may be muddy. If you'd like to use iNaturalist, bring a smartphone with the app downloaded or a camera.

Meet: At the Equestrian Area. Parking is available, but not restrooms. Restrooms are located at the boat ramp, the campground loop, and swim beach.

This program is free to attend with paid park entrance ($4 per adult, kids 12 and under are free).
