Help us start a campfire the old-school way and make s'mores to celebrate 100 s'more years of Texas State Parks!

State Parks Centennial LogoWhat better way to celebrate the past 100 years of Texas State Parks and look forward to 100 more years than enjoying s'mores with family or friends?

Follow in the footsteps of countless humans who relied on fire to survive day in and day out by making a "primitive" campfire. Once a good campfire is made, stay a little longer to make s'mores with us! We will have a limited supply of basic s'mores ingredients and tools. You are welcome to bring your own.

Meet: Site#2 in Opossum Bend Camping Loop

Bring: A chair to sit by the fire in.

Cost: Free with park admission. Admission is $5 for each person 13 and older, free for each person 12 or younger.

Note:

  • All ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • If no visitors show up by 15 minutes after the program start time, the program will be considered canceled.
  • This program is weather-dependent, and programs are subject to changes or cancellations. Call the park for the most up-to-date information.
  • Texas State Parks will be hosting fun and unique s’mores celebrations across Texas on May 13. Guarantee entry by reserving your day pass up to one month before this special event.
  • If you can’t make it to a park, join the fun by hosting your own s’mores get-together. Post a photo of your s’mores celebration on Facebook or Instagram @texasstateparks.org with the hashtag #100SmoreYears.
  • This is one of many 100-year celebration events happening in Texas State Parks this year.
