Beneath Your Feet!!

2:00p to 3:00p
Sat, August 17, 2019
Joel Janssen
(936) 365-2201, x230

Join Ranger Joel for a hands on look at the role decomposers play in our ecosystem.

First, we will learn a little about what decomposers are and how they help recycle organic materials.  Then, we will look for decomposers such as termites, grubs, and beetles in the ground, rotting logs, and other places.  Once we find our decomposers, we will examine them using magnifying glasses and microscopes to try and figure out what they are and what adaptations they have that allow them to turn organic debris into soil.  A variety of field guides and handbooks will be available for us to look through to learn more about what we find.

Regular park admission fees of $5 per adult ages 13 and up apply; no additional charge for activities.

No reservations necessary.
