Animals of Lake Somerville

Join one of our team members for an educational program. Learn about the park's venomous snakes and learn the answer to questions such as why shouldn't we be afraid of them?

Join one of our team members for an educational presentation. You can also learn about some of the most common mammals in the park and their characteristics.

You will have the possibility to touch the skins of some of the mammal specimens we have on display. We will share photographs, and we will talk about observations or experiences that you have about these creatures that are so important for our ecosystem.

This program is outdoors, so remember to dress according to the weather and bring enough water and insect repellent.

Meet at Picnic Pavillion #2 in the Cedar Elm Day-Use Area, Birch Creek Unit.

Reminder: This event is weather-dependent, so follow us on Facebook or Instagram for updates, or call the park headquarters at (979) 535-7763
