BioBlitz! Lake Tawakoni 2026
Reay, set, collect!
Help us to collect as much high-quality data as possible during a September BioBlitz! The data will be used to help TPWD better understand what species are present in the park.
- iNaturalist observations recorded in the park during the BioBlitz will be automatically uploaded to the project.
- Compete with other visitors and rangers to see who can get the most observations or species in the leader board!
- Rangers and volunteers will help to speed up ID process
- Data will be used to help manage the Park!
BioBlitz Related Programs:
Saturday September 12th:
9:00am-4:30pm BioBlitz Table Near Spring point trailhead. Stop by to learn more about iNaturalist, check in on collected data, learn how to use Binoculars, and learn about common species in the park.
10:00am Become a Citizen Scientist! Join a ranger for a short program covering the basics and importance of iNaturalist, and kick off some data collection on a short optional hike after the Program!
Friday September 18th:
8:00pm Insect Extravaganza! Join a ranger for some nighttime mothing to add as many night shift insects as possible to our BioBlitz. Discover a whole new world of our nighttime creatures!
Saturday September 19th:
10:00am Fall Equinox Hike. Take a hike to learn about the fall equinox to kick of the season. Learn about how our ecosystems are impacted by the seasons and how that can play a part in citizen science!
Programs are free with park entry: $5 for adults 13 and up, 12 and under are free.
