Storybook on the Trail: Because of an Acorn

Join us at Lake Whitney State Park as we celebrate the storybook Because of an Acorn. This family-friendly activity combines reading, exploration, and nature-based learning inspired by the journey of a single acorn.

Participants will walk the trail at their own pace, stopping at designated story stations where pages of “Because of an Acorn” are displayed to be read aloud. It’s a perfect blend of literacy, art, and nature exploration.

What to Bring:

  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Water bottle
  • Sunscreen and insect repellent
  • Hat or sunglasses for sun protection
  • A sense of wonder and imagination!

 

Before You Hit the Trail:
✅ Pay your day-use fee
✅ Sign in for the storybook event
Pick up your questionnaire to use along the storybook trail!

How to Join the Fun:

  1. Head over to the Headquarters office, where the magic begins.
  2. Stroll through trail where you will find the wonderful colorful storybook pages come to life.
  3. When your trail tale is complete, wander back to HQ anytime between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. and show us your complete questionnaire to receive an amazing acorn sticker as a token of appreciation!
