Ever searched for Easter eggs after dark? It's fun for the whole family – and that’s no joke! Registration required.

Join us for our 7th annual Snipe Hunt at Lockhart State Park! In this program, “snipes” (decorated Easter eggs) will be hidden on park trails. Snipe eyes reflect the light of your flashlight, so join us after dark for the hunt! Registration is required to attend.

    Details:

    • Registration now required. Due to the popularity of this event, we are now requiring all participants pre-register in order to attend. Registration will open on Monday, April 1st. Information on how to register will be posted here, so check back after April 1!
    • After you check in to the park, meet us in the park picnic area to sign in to the hunt, pick up your hunting supplies, and make your own snipe while you wait for the hunt to begin! We will have an orientation before the hunt starts. Please remember to sign out with us at the end of the hunt!
    • During sign in, each snipe hunter will be given a hunting license and glow bracelet. The hunting license allows each hunter to harvest up to 5-8 snipes on each of our colored trails.
    • If you choose to move your vehicle after the start of the hunt, your party will be assigned a parking area. Please consider carpooling to this event with other attendees.
    • Recommended for kids ages 5+. There will be no beginner area this year. Children under 15 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
    • Hunters should bring a snipe carrying container (bag or basket) and flashlight. A limited number of baskets and flashlights will be available to borrow at sign in on a first come first served basis. Please leave weapons and pets at home.
    • We recommend you wear weather appropriate clothing (layers), sturdy shoes, bug-repellent, and bring water. Expect to hike approximately 2+ miles during this event.
    • The event is free with entry to the park. Regular park entrance fees are $3/adult, free for children 12 & under.
