Homeschool Class: Tipis on the Prairie

Experience Lockhart State Park as an outdoor classroom in this program for school-age kids! Registration required.

Lockhart State Park’s homeschool program is a set of outdoor classes for homeschool kiddos grades 1-5 (ages 6-12). Classes are usually held on the first full week of the month (September through April), and you can choose between Tuesday at 10am, Wednesday at 10am, Wednesday at 2pm, or Thursday at 10am. We cover a different topic every month, so don’t miss out! 

Join us in October to set up a tipi and learn about Native American culture!

Please Note: Our tipi cannot safely be built if wind gusts are over 20 mph. Therefore, if high winds are forecasted for the day of this program, it will be rescheduled. Notice of rescheduling will be emailed to all participants at least 1.5 hours before program start time, if needed.

Registration: Program is limited to 25 participants, so registration is required. Registration is online only. Prepare: Dress for the weather and bring water.

Meet: In the picnic area of the park. If driving from park HQ, pass the pool and take your first right-hand turn into the picnic area parking lot.

Fees: This class is free with entry to the park. Regular park entrance fees are $3/adult, free for children 12 & under.
