Experience Lockhart State Park as an outdoor classroom in this program for school-age kids! Registration required.

Lockhart State Park’s homeschool program is a set of outdoor classes for kiddos grades 1-5. Classes are usually held on the 2nd full week of every month, and you can choose between Tuesday at 10am, Wednesday at 2pm, or Thursday at 10am. The topic for each month will be unique, so don’t miss out!

April’s class is a Stream Study. Join us for some “bug picking” (i.e. macroinvertebrate capture & identification) to determine the water quality of Clear Fork Creek! These are the last homeschool classes for this school year, but never fear, we will resume in September!

Registration: Program is limited to 25 participants, so registration is required. Please call park HQ at 512-398-3479 during business hours (8am-5pm daily) to register for this program. Please register only if you’re sure your student can attend, and if your plans change, please call and cancel so that another child can have that spot.

Prepare: We will be getting in the creek, so please wear closed-toed shoes you can get wet.

Meet: In campsite #11. Please park at the campground bathroom, day use area, or along the paved loop and walk to class. Please do not park in the grass.

Fees: The class is free with entry to the park. Regular park entrance fees are $3/adult, free for children 12 & under.
