Learn how to make lye soap and discover its many uses on our Farm!
Just because it's 1918 doesn't mean that we don't stay clean!
Roll up your sleeves and let's get to work making soap and washing laundry. Learn the steps of how to make lye soap using lye and lard and then help with scrubbing clothes on a washboard.
This program will be come and go as you please, and open to all ages. Be sure to check in at the Visitor Center first and head over to the farm.
Lye soap making will start at 10am and will conclude when all lard & lye has been converted into soap. Science!
Where: Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm (all visitors must check in at Visitor Center)
When: come and go between 10am & noon
Fee: free!
