Birding the Island

Birdwatch on the largest island in Texas State Parks

Take a stroll along the Island trail and see bird species either migrating through or getting ready to raise their young here.

Learn to identify birds by sight and sound. Bring binoculars if you have them. We have a few loaners, too.

Great for beginner to expert; recommended for ages 8 and up. 

Dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and be ready for a 1-mile walk.

Subject to cancellation for bad weather. 

Free with paid park admission of $4 person 13 and older; 12 and under are free.
