Join a ranger to learn about bird adaptations and invent your very own bird - register here!

Are you looking for a fun way to teach your homeschool children about adaptations? Join Ranger Amy at Martin Dies, Jr. State Park where we'll learn the different types of bird adaptations, and how they help the bird survive. We'll end the program with a fun arts and crafts activity - creating your very own bird with its own unique adaptations to help it survive.

Space is limited so please sign-up ahead of time by following the link below:

*If you cannot make it to the program then you MUST cancel via Eventbrite, email Ranger Amy at or call and leave a voicemail at 409-698-6636. Please try to cancel 2 days prior to the program so that we can open up your registered spot for someone else. If you "no-show" to this program then your name will be placed on the waitlist for all future park programs.

When: Wednesday, Sept. 4, 10 am - 12 pm 

Where: Martin Dies, Jr. State Park Nature Center on Walnut Ridge unit.

Cost: The program is free, but if you plan on staying in the park after the program then you must obtain a park entry permit. Entrance fees are paid at Park Headquarters and are $4 per person over the age of 13, children 12 and under are free. Bring your Texas state park pass to waive entry fees. If you bring exact cash you can fill out a self-pay envelope at the nature center.
