Junior Ranger Day (Registration Required)

Pick a program to help you complete an activity page in your Junior Ranger activity book.

Join a Ranger or Park Volunteer to learn more about nature. Bring your Junior  Ranger activity book with you to the program of your choosing. Registration is required, please call Ranger Amy at 409-698-6636 Tuesday-Friday 8 am - 4:30 pm to sign-up. 

Water Cycle Talk

  • Meet at the Tidelands boat ramp day-use area. Park Ranger Armando will guide your kids through our water treatment plant where they'll learn all about the water cycle and how to conserve water.

Observing Wildlife

  • Meet at the Walnut Slough day-use area. Park Ranger Amy will help your kids observe wildlife and the clues they leave behind. 

Leave No Trace

  • Meet outside the nature center. Park and Wildlife employee Amanda will teach you about leave no trace principles through a fun activity.

What to bring: Please bring your face mask 

What to expect: Expect to stay with your own group and if there's a lot of visitors expect to wait so that we can properly space everyone out and sanitize equipment between groups. 

There is no fee for attending this program; however, payment of park entrance fees are required. Entrance fees are paid at Park Headquarters or the self-pay stations and are $4 per person over the age of 13, children 12 and under are free.
