Afternoon Hike ― Trek on Chimney Loop

5:30p to 6:30p
Sat, September 21, 2019
Jared Shamburger

Explore hilltops, homesteads, and the El Camino Real under fading greens of summer...

Hike just over a mile in shaded Pineywoods uplands with a Ranger under the canopy of Chimney Loop trail. Take in all the sights, sounds, and surprises of the forest!

- This trail travels along a hilltop from the CCC Pond, past the still-standing hearth and chimney of a homestead getaway from the 1950’s, all the way to the remaining traces of El Camino Real de los Tejas.

- Feel free to ask questions about the plant and animal life found in this part of the park, learn why stewardship is important for our state parks, and follow in the footsteps of the heroes of Texas history by ending your hike on a 300 year old trail...

Meet at the Playground!

Bring water, appropriate clothing and footwear for the outdoors, bug spray, and come hike through history with us!

***Attendance to this event is open to the public and free AFTER regular day use or camping fees.
