America 250 - Iron Inks and Feather Pens!
Fri, July 03, 2026
Commemorate America's 250th Anniversary by writing with the same kind of ink and pen that the Founding Fathers used to create the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution!
Did you know that the iron ink used in writing our nation's most treasured documents used powder from oak galls created by wasps?
At Mission Tejas, we will be using ink made from this and feather quill pens and writing like the days of old as we celebrate 250 years of American legacy!
We will be meeting at the Group Pavilion at our picnic area in the center of the park; restrooms and water fountains available.
Please RSVP for this event (contact info on the left).
Where: Mission Tejas State Park Group Pavilion.
When: Friday, July 3rd @ 10:00 AM
Cost: $4/person; kids 12 and under and carriers of a valid Texas State Parks Pass do not have to pay admission!
