Bug out with Ranger Jared, the fastest net in the West…

Have you ever bee-n to a state park and were bugged by all the insects? Don’t know anty-thing about them? Wondered what’s all the buzz about? Come wing it, catch a couple, and learn on the fly!

Try your hand at catching some creepers, coasters, and crawlers down by the pond with our park interpreter and help him ID everything we find!

Learn some easy tips for telling the different types of insects and their relatives apart. Some of the most important insects in the Pineywoods can be found right by the pond, and they keep the circle of life spinning here at Mission Tejas!

We have some nets, jars, and other containers to share, but feel free to bring your own. All bugs caught must be released back into our park after ID and discussion.

Participants are advised to bring water, bug spray, appropriate clothing and footwear for the outdoors, their own net if they wish, and their fastest reflexes!

Meet at the Pond Spillway Bridge.

***Attendance to this event is open to the public and free after regular day use or camping fees.
