Build Your Own Bird Nest

5:00p to 5:45p
Fri, October 04, 2019
Jared Shamburger

Don’t be an egghead, come learn about nests and build your very own!

Birds use their nests to keep their eggs warm, some live in them all year round to warm themselves, temporary or permanent they all take special care to build their homes!
- Can you make a warm nest to help you stay cozy? Come build your own bird’s nest out of natural materials found in the Pineywoods and try your hand at being a real birdbrain!
- This activity is great for children, hands-on learners, and anyone who enjoys a fun experience for their tactile senses! We’ll talk a bit about some birds found in our area who use their nest for their eggs and all year round.
- Remember, we can’t gather materials from inside the park! All our nest materials will be donated from local landowners, so we can celebrate the East Texas landscape while protecting it inside Mission Tejas.

Participants may want to bring water, appropriate clothing and footwear for the outdoors, and their sharpest beak!

Meet at the Visitor's Center!

***Attendance to this event is open to the public and free AFTER regular day use or camping fees.
